YouTube Channel Memberships are monthly subscriptions that get you exclusive badges, emojis, or extra content from your favorite creators. Maybe you signed up to support a channel, but now your interests have changed or you accidentally joined the wrong one. Or maybe those promised member perks aren’t working for you. With prices usually ranging from $0.99 to $49.99 per month (set by creators themselves), canceling can save real money over time—especially if you have subscriptions you forgot about. This guide walks you through canceling and refunding on desktop, iOS, and Android, so you can get it done without any extra drama.

How to Cancel YouTube Channel Membership on Desktop

  1. Go to youtube.com and log in.

  2. Click your profile icon in the top right.

  3. Pick “Purchases & Memberships”.

  4. Find the channel membership you want to cancel.

  5. Hit “Manage Membership” next to it.

  6. Click “Deactivate”, then hit “End Membership” to confirm.

A quick tip: Sometimes, “Purchases & Memberships” didn’t load for me without refreshing once. If it’s slow or glitchy, try a quick page reload. It usually fixes itself!

How to Cancel YouTube Channel Membership on iOS

If you paid for the channel membership using your Apple account, cancellation must be done through the App Store instead of YouTube.

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.

  2. Tap your Apple ID at the top.

  3. Pick Subscriptions.

  4. Find your YouTube channel membership.

  5. Tap “Cancel Subscription”.

A heads-up: You won’t be able to refund through YouTube if you paid via Apple—refunds must go through Apple Support. It’s a little buried, but you’ll find it in your list of active subscriptions.

How to Cancel YouTube Channel Membership on Android

If you subscribed via Google Play, you have to cancel inside the Play Store app:

  1. Open the Google Play Store.

  2. Tap your Profile Icon (top right).

  3. Choose Payments & Subscriptions.

  4. Tap Subscriptions.

  5. Find the YouTube channel membership and tap to cancel it.

Don’t see your membership there? Double-check which Google account you’re signed into. Sometimes memberships are linked to a different account than expected!

How to Request a Refund

  • In general, YouTube does not refund for unused time left after cancellation, but if perks or features are broken (or if your account was charged by mistake), you may be eligible for a refund.

  • For standard refunds:

    • Visit the YouTube Support page.

    • If perks aren’t working or you see an unauthorized charge, contact support directly.

  • If you paid via Apple, refunds are only offered through Apple Support, not YouTube. For Google Play payments, you can request a refund via Google Play or YouTube support.

A note: I once had to jump through a couple of hoops to get a perk refund—it helps to screenshot any errors and mention them in your support request to speed things up.
